Description

My Friend's Place opened the homeless shelter in 1989.

Now in their 27th year, thousands of people have called My Friend's Place their home.

Approximately 200 people will stay at the shelter during any given year, including 30 to 40 families with children.

The majority of the families who stay at our shelter are women with children. My Friend's Place works closely with officials from communities within our service area to make sure that the neediest of our citizens receive the services they need.

Today My Friend's Place also operates four transitional housing units in Dover.

Funded by a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, these housing units are designed for homeless families who may occupy a unit for up to two years while they work to overcome obstacles to finding permanent housing.

Funding from grants and governmental sources make up only 60% of the funds required to run My Friends Place.

The balance comes from fundraising activities.

My Friend's House Mission:

Provide home like emergency shelter and transitional housing, and exceptional support for the homeless men, women, and families in our service area.

I am cleaning out a house for sale. Is there anything the shelter would be interested in me donating?
